Wilma Marie Carr, age 81, died on April 16, 2024, at the Ness County Hospital, Ness City, Kansas. She was born on April 8, 1943, in Ransom, Kansas, the daughter of Frank and Dana (Douglass) Ummel.
On October 13, 1969, while living in Neodesha, Kansas she married George Dale Carr in Miami, Oklahoma. They later moved to Alexander, Kansas and then Bazine, later moving to Ness City. Dale preceded Wilma in death on July 8, 2006.
Wilma was a hard worker throughout her life. She was a Certified Nurse’s Assistant and a Certified Medical Assistant. After she retired from hospital work, she worked at Butterfields Convenience Store past her 80th birthday.
She is survived by her son, Jarrod Carr and his wife, Tiffany, of Ellinwood and daughter, Maria Carr of Great Bend; two brothers, Edward and Lester Ummel; two sisters, Barbara Kisslinger and JoAnn Walker; grandson, Brandon Carr; step-grandchildren, Tiara Lawson (Collan) and Nick Espinosa; and step-great granddaughter, Elliana Lawson, along with her many furry grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a son, Frank Carr.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Golden Belt Humane Society in Great Bend or the Ellinwood EMS.
