Kenneth Paul “Auggie” Augustine age 82, of Hays, Kansas passed away at his home on Thursday, March 6, 2025.
He was born June 24, 1943, in Hays, Kansas to Michael and Anna (Weaver) Augustine. He married Barbara D. (Vine) on July 1, 1967 at Hays, Kansas.
Kenny worked as a fireman for the City of Hays and then an electrician and owner of R&A Electric until he retired in 1999. He and Barbara moved to Grove, Oklahoma for 15 years, and returned back to Hays in 2023.
He grew up in Hays and was a 1962 graduate of Saint Joseph’s Military Academy. While in Okla, he was a proud member of the Rotary Club and worked on numerous projects there.
Throughout his life he enjoyed all of his years spent at the lake fishing, boating, and visiting with his countless friends. He spent hours just sitting on the front porch, no matter what home he was at. He also had a passion for golfing, woodworking, his prized show cars, and touring on his motorcycle with Barb. No matter what, Kenny’s days were always filled spending time with “his girls”, Oakley and Marley right by his side.
He was given the name Poppy by his first grandson. Along with his other Grands and Great Grands, over the past 38 years has also been known by all of Stacy’s daycare families simply as their Poppy too. This always put a smile on his face walking through those doors and having all the kids come running to greet him.
