Phillip Erlin Schweitzer, 74, of Osborne, Kansas, passed away Monday,
June 20, 2022, at Salina Regional Health Center in Salina, Kansas. He
was born on March 12, 1948, in Concordia, Kansas, to Erlin and Harriet
(Leaver) Schweitzer. Phillip was the youngest of three siblings.
He grew up on the family farm east of Osborne. Phillip lived in
Osborne for the majority of his life. As a child, he also lived in
Roswell, New Mexico, and Claremont, California while his father’s
construction company was completing jobs. He graduated from Osborne High
School and went on to attend Fort Hays State University and then Brown
Mackie College in Salina, Kansas. After college, Phillip worked as a
bookkeeper at Quenzer Appliance in Osborne, KS, and helped his father on
the farm. He soon joined the family farm full time where he worked
until his death. His family was his pride and joy. He would do anything
for his family. Phillip attended and helped with countless activities
that his kids and grandkids participated in. In addition to his love for
farming, he enjoyed being outdoors cutting wood, hunting, tending to
the family pool, shooting fireworks, and hosting family barbeques &
holidays. He loved working with his hands and later in life developed a
knack for carpentry after helping build the home they currently reside
in. Phillip was a member of the United Methodist Church in Osborne,
Kansas.
On September 13, 1969, Phillip married Carole Hadley from Portis,
Kansas, and had three children, Joelle, Shawn, and Ashley. In 2019 they
celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends.
Phillip is survived by wife Carole of the home; three children,
daughter, Joelle Wolters, and husband Jason of Salina, Kansas; son Shawn
Schweitzer of Osborne, Kansas, and daughter Ashley Carlson and husband
Bryce of Perris, California; two sisters, Nancy Lane of Wichita, Kansas
and Carol Conway and husband Ray of Beloit, Kansas; Seven grandchildren
Drake & Demi Wolters, Mattox, Mya & Jaxton Schweitzer, and
Wesley & Willow Carlson.
Phillip was preceded in death by his parents Erlin and Harriet
Schweitzer, brother-in-law Barry Lane, and daughter-in-law Cynthia
Schweitzer.
