Jane Rae Pfannenstiel, 87, Hays, left this world to be with her Lord Jesus Christ, with her loving family at her side on Friday, October 21, 2022
She was born January 9, 1935, in Damar the daughter of Emile and Evelyn (Newell) Tremblay. Upon graduation, she moved to Hays, where she would meet her future husband, Marvin Francis Pfannenstiel. They would celebrate their love for each other in the Catholic Church and in front of their families as they united in marriage on October 22, 1955. Before Marvin’s passing in 2019, they celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary. In their marriage, five children were born: Cindy, Carmen, Danny, Lisa, and Tim.
Jane was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, the attribute she would hope to be remembered by. She dedicated her life to sharing the love and peace of Jesus. She would often ask, “How is your walk with the Lord?” She faithfully served by her husband Marvin in the food and hospitality business, something that was more of a lifestyle to her than work. For ten years, she was employed at HaysMed, working as a Med CNA. She enjoyed nothing more than being surrounded by her family, often in an overcrowded house that was 20 degrees warmer than it should be. She was a shark at the card table, not afraid to cut a rug at a wedding reception, and was a Patriot that believed in our country and the principles it was built on. Jane was very proud to be an American. Her humor was unique and still makes us laugh today. Jane had an incredible way of making you feel uncomfortable by asking profoundly direct questions, but somehow making you feel more welcome than you can imagine. She resembled the one she followed. Jane will be missed but equally remembered as her spirit lives on in each of those who were blessed to know her.

Survivors include her children: Cindy Guthrie and husband Rick of Dodge City, Carmen Kirchman and husband David of Dodge City, Danny Pfannenstiel and companion Cheryl Way of Norton, Lisa Donovan and husband David of Norton, and Tim Pfannenstiel of Hays, daughters-in-law: Connie Pfannenstiel and Susie Pfannenstiel, two brothers: Jerome Tremblay and wife Charlotte of Hermiston, OR and Douglas Tremblay and wife Jenny of Gypsum, CO, two sisters: Dianne Leiker of Hays and Dorothy Barnett and husband Ivan of Topeka, 18 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and one on the way, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Marvin, two brothers: Leo and Leodore Tremblay and a sister: Leola Kerr.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Friday, October 28, 2022, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Fr. Nick Parker officiating. Burial will follow in the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery, WaKeeney. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm until 8:00 on Thursday and from 9:00 am until 9:45 on Friday, all at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. A vigil service and rosary will be at 6:30 pm on Thursday at the funeral home.
