Ruben Bruntz, 98, passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2023 at his home in Watauga, Texas. He was born on May 25, 1925 in Bazine, Kansas to Jacob and Eva Bruntz.
While serving in Germany during WWII, he received two Purple Hearts for being injured during combat.
He married Betty Rae Patterson on July 18, 1948. Together they ran Bruntz Plumbing and Appliance for 31 years before retiring to enjoy children and grandchildren.
Ruben was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Rae; mother, Eva; father, Jacob; daughter, Sharilyn Wilson; sons-in-laws Charles Wilson and Denis Satrom; sisters, Rose Gumescheimer, Viola Daubert, and Dorothy Schoenhals; and brothers, Edward, John, and Samuel Bruntz.
Ruben is survived by his four children, Mike and his wife, Joan, Bruntz of Bazine, Curtis Bruntz of Bazine, Lynn Bruntz of Fenton, MO, Janice Satrom of South Lake, TX; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Eileen Bruntz of Bazine.
A graveside service will be held on April 13, 2024, at the Bazine Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Mark Durham officiating, followed by Military Honors conducted by Kansas Army National Guard and the Bazine American Legion Post 392.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Bazine American Legion Post 392 or Christ Pilot Me Hill.
