Margaret Nancy Ziegler, age 77, died on January 22, 2023, at the Gove County Medical Center. She was born on November 6, 1945, in Comanche County, Texas the daughter of Dillard J. and Linner D. (Donaldson) Kelsey.
Margaret was a 1962 graduate of May High School in May, Texas. After graduating she went to work for Texas Instruments near Dallas where she met her future husband. On May 7, 1966, she married Louis P. Ziegler in Dallas. Three children were born to this union. The couple moved to Collyer where they made their home. Margaret was a bus driver for Trego County School and retired after years. She served as an EMS volunteer for over 30 years and as a firefighter for 20 years. She was the first female on the Trego County Fire and Rescue and she served on the State Board of Emergency Medical Technicians.
Margaret is survived by her husband, Louis; two sons, Don Ziegler of Collyer and Ron Ziegler and his wife, Janet, of WaKeeney; a daughter Terri Ziegler of Collyer; two brothers, Earl Kelsey of Meridian, Texas and Garland Kelsey of Beebe, Arkansas; and one sister, Sue Carter of Leonard, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, WB and Ernest; and four sisters, Bobby, Joyce, Faye, and Sara.
Memorial service will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Collyer on Saturday, February 4, 2023, 11:00 a.m. with inurnment following in the St. Michael’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Schmitt Funeral Home on Friday, February 3, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m.
