Peggy A. Muffitt, 82, was called by her lord and savior on Monday June
27, 2022, at Emerald Nursing Home in Cozad, Nebraska. She was born on
November 9, 1939, at Dodge City the daughter of Charles & Mattie
(Morehead) Garton, Jr. She married Fred E. Muffitt on March 4, 1959, at
Dighton. He died on January 10, 2018.
Peggy graduated with the class of 1957 from Dighton High School. She
enlisted in the Women’s Army Corps (WACS). After her discharge two
years later married and became a homemaker.
She loved family time, especially playing games such as wahoo,
horseshoes and kick the can. She enjoyed canning, gardening, music, her
walks, dancing and bowling. She was a tremendous cook and a friend to
many people.
She is survived by her Daughter Mattie Duckworth of Lexington, Nebraska,
Son- Fred Lee Muffitt of Dighton, 3 Grandchildren- Justin Emerson of
Dighton, Dennille Borell of Arnold and Sheridan Schaben of Ness City and
5 Great-Grandchildren- Kain Emerson, Seth Emerson, Drake Woods, Hudson
Woods and Aiden Shull. She is preceded in death by her Parents,
Husband, 2 Daughters- Linda Schaben and Lolene (Elly) Emerson and
Sister- Linda Lou Hayden.
Funeral Service will be at 10:30 AM Saturday at First Christian Church
in Dighton with Pastor Steve Payne officiating. Burial will be in
Dighton Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Friday at Boomhower Funeral Home in Dighton.
