Lorainna Kay Hurde-Holzmeister (63), passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of February 2, 2024, at the University of Colorado Health Center in Denver, Colorado.
Lorainna (Kay) was born on July 24, 1960 to parents Lorenzo and Wanda Hurde Sr., in Cheyenne Wells, Colorado.
After graduating from Larned Senior High School in 1978, Lorainna moved to Colorado, where she obtained multiple certifications in healthcare as a Mental Health Clinician. Lorainna retired from the State of Colorado and Larned State Hospital after serving over 25 years in the mental healthcare industry.
Lorainna is preceded in death by her Husband Michael K. Holzmeister, who passed away on September 26, 1992, and her Mother Wanda Lee Hurde, who passed away on December 7, 2017.Lorainna is survived by her Daughter, Vaunda Jeanne Chism and Son-In-Law, Abdi Buni, four grandsons, Harun Buni, Musa Buni, Idris Buni, and Abdullah Buni, Denver, Colorado, her Father, Lorenzo Hurde Sr. Larned, Kansas, Sister Melinda L. Sipnefski and Brother-In-Law Rudy Sipnefski, Topeka, Kansas, Brother Lorenzo Hurde Jr, and Sister-In-Law Stormy Hurde, Dodge City, Kansas, four great nieces and four great nephews, and many other family members and friends who loved her dearly.In honor of Lorainna Kay’s life, the family is hosting a Celebration of Life service on Sunday, February 18, 2024 at 1pm, at the Knights of Columbus, 1216 M. Road, Larned, Kansas 67550.In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family requests donations to non-profit organization SafeHouse Denver, 1649 Downing Street, Denver, Colorado 80218.
