Vera Jane Glick

Plainville - Vera Jane (Stoner) Glick, 96, passed away Sunday, May 8, 2022, at her home in Plainville.  

Vera Jane was born February 23, 1926, the third daughter of Loyd and Vera (Claggett) Stoner.  She was born and raised in Kirwin, Kansas, until her family moved to Plainville where she attended and graduated with the PHS class of 1944.  

Vera Jane Stoner was united in marriage to Herbert W. Glick on June 5, 1944, in Boise, Idaho. This union was blessed with four children, Donald, Fred, Rodger and Shirley. The family spent most of their married life in Plainville.  

She was a homemaker and accomplished seamstress, making clothes for her children and later her grandchildren.  

Vera Jane enjoyed flower gardening, cooking and all kinds of crafting including in part, ceramics, ornaments for every occasion and crocheted items from refrigerator magnets to afghans, all of which her family were always included as being the lucky recipients. Vera Jane also enjoyed hunting and fishing for many years. Later in life she found joy and fellowship in playing cards, especially Texas Hold 'Em! 

She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Plainville, a member of the National WWII Museum and a life member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 8871 of which she held various offices over the years. 

Vera Jane was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

She is survived by her four children, Donald (Verlene) Glick of Zurich, KS, Fred (Paula) Glick of Plainville, KS, Rodger (Geri) Glick of Parker, CO, and Shirley Steinert of Plainville, KS, eight grandchildren, Donald Glick, Jr., Ronald Glick, Hollie Gehring, Bryce Glick, Kristin Francis, Jason Glick, Makenzi Johnson, and Stuart Rempe, 18 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, a host of extended family and friends as well as last but not least, her beloved, loyal and constant companion, WeGo. 

She was preceded in death by include her mother, father, husband, three sisters Connie, Billy, LeAnne, one brother Harvey, and son-in-law Jim Steinert. 

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at Plainville United Methodist Church, 1002 Madison St., Plainville, KS, with Pastor Dennis Irwin officiating.  Visitation will be held on Monday, May 23, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Plainville United Methodist Church.  Burial will take place in the Plainville Cemetery, Plainville, KS.

Memorials can be given to the Vera Jane Glick memorial fund; however, Vera would rather you pay something forward to someone of your choice.
