Aylin Esmeralda Olivas Ortega, a vibrant soul who brought joy to everyone around her, departed this world on July 25, 2023 at HaysMed, at the tender age of 21. She was born on January 22, 2002 in Hays, Kansas, the daughter of loving parents, Angel Olivas and Yadira Olivas Ortega.
In addition to Aylin's many accomplishments and the love she shared, her life was marked by incredible courage and strength. For 13 years of her 21-year journey, she bravely battled glioblastoma brain cancer, demonstrating unwavering resilience in the face of adversity. In her short time on earth, Aylin achieved great achievements and touched the lives of many.
In 2020, she graduated from TMP-Marian High School and then NCK Tech, where she earned a degree as a CNA. Her compassion and dedication to caring for others led her to become a certified nursing assistant at Via Christi in Hays and HaysMed, where her warmth and kindness had a lasting impact on patients and colleagues alike.
Aylin's dedication to her community and faith was commendable. During her time at TMP-Marian, she participated in volleyball, demonstrating her athleticism and team spirit. In addition, she was an active member of the IHMC Church, where she served as an altar girl and lector.
Beyond her professional and academic achievements, Aylin had a passion and found joy in singing and dancing. Her vibrant spirit and infectious enthusiasm uplifted those around her and created lasting memories for all the lucky ones who shared those moments.
Aylin's capacity for friendship knew no bounds, and she was a true confidant and companion to all who crossed her path. Her genuine kindness and ability to connect with others will be treasured and missed by countless friends and acquaintances.
Aylin is survived by her parents, Angel and Yadira, and her siblings, Julian, Josue, Ruben, Isabella, Angel and Anna Cecilia, all from Hays. She also leaves behind numerous extended family members and friends who will always keep his memory close to their hearts.
While her life may have been cut short by this unrelenting disease, Aylin's legacy of courage will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched. Their bravery in the face of such a difficult battle will always serve as an inspiration to us all. Aylin's loss leaves an indescribable void in the lives of those she touched. May her laughter, kindness and love continue to shine in our hearts as we remember and honor her extraordinary life.
Visitation will be Friday 1 p.m. - 8 p.m. at Brock's-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 2509 Vine, Hays, KS 67601.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 1805 Vine, Hays with Fr. Nick Parker officiating. Burial will continue at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Hays.

Aylin Esmeralda Olivas Ortega, un alma vibrante que trajo alegría a todos a su alrededor, partió de este mundo el 25 de julio de 2023 en HaysMed, a la tierna edad de 21 años. Nació el 22 de enero de 2002 en Hays, Kansas, hija de sus amorosos padres, Angel Olivas y Yadira Olivas Ortega.
Además de los muchos logros de Aylin y el amor que compartía, su vida estuvo marcada por un increíble coraje y fuerza.
