Shirley J. Letourneau-Rogler

Shirley J. Letourneau-Rogler 89 died December 10, 2023 at her home in Green Valley, Arizona with her husband Jack by her side. She was born July 7, 1934 in rural Kincaid, KS the daughter of Otto and Inola (Giffin) Nichols.

Shirley married Dean Letourneau on June 12, 1954. He passed away on December 13, 2001 at MD Anderson in Houston, TX with Shirley by his side.

Shirley taught in Garden City School System for many years before teaching at Garden City Community College. She touched the lives of many and left lasting memories for all who had the privilege of being one of her students or knowing her.

Shirley was a beautiful lady inside and out. She was an inspiration and admired by everyone. She invested 100% of herself in everything she did. She loved to learn but more importantly she loved teaching others. She enjoyed traveling and being adventurous. She accepted everyone at their level, and always gave them a chance. Shirley helped and generally cared for others, but above all she was humble. Her hobbies which gave her much joy included cooking, gardening, reading and writing. Shirley enjoyed golfing and had two holes in one during her golf time over the years and she was also a very good racquetball player and had won numerous trophies.

Shirley reunited with her high school sweetheart John (Jack) Rogler in 2003 and they were married on December 12, 2019. They spent their golden years together traveling the world.

Survivors include husband John (Jack) Rogler of Green Valley, Arizona, children Craig (Nhung) Letourneau of Houston, Texas, Brent (Lisa) Letourneau of Clifton Park, New York and Sheri (Kent) Denton of Garden City, Kansas sister Sandra Prawl of Manhattan, Kansas, grandchildren Bryan (Shelby) Letourneau of United Kingdom, Mark Letourneau of Albany, New York and Jade Denton of Wichita, Kansas. Shirley is preceded in death by her first husband Dean and her parents.

A Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City with Fr. Tim Hickey officiating. Condolences may be given at garnandfuneralhomes.com.
