'Art' Arthur Fief, Garden City
“Art” Arthur Fief, 78, died Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at his home in Garden City, Kansas. He was born January 21, 1945, in Garden City, Kansas, the son of James and Irene (Urban) Fief.
Art lived most of his life in Garden City, Kansas where he attended Garden City schools. He lived in Fresno, California where he worked as owner of Fief Construction. In Garden City, Art owned Fief Auto Body and later worked for 25 years at Cornerstone Church. He enjoyed spending his time working on cars, woodworking, and loved traveling to Branson, Missouri.
On January 21, 1977, he married Jan Hornbaker in Sun Valley, Nevada. She survives. Other survivors include five children, Shawn and wife Dena Fief of Olathe, Kansas, Missy Fief of Garden City, Kansas, Mark and wife Kaye Fief of Fort Worth, Texas, April and husband Tim Miller of Scott City, Kansas, and Cody and wife Brianna Fief of Garden City, Kansas; brothers Larry and wife Kyra Fief, and Gary and wife Barbara Fief; sisters Terri Scher, Darlene Nelson, and Joan Wasinger; 11 grandchildren, Marshall, Maddie, and Raegan Fief of Olathe, Kansas, Patrick, Mya, and Kiara Fief of Fort Worth, Texas, Austin and Aiden Miller of Scott City, Kansas, Jordan Miller of Parsons, Kansas, Jacque Griffen of Garden City, Kansas, and Dusty Fief; and several great-grandchildren.
Art is preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather Loren Gunkel; six brothers; and two sisters.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City with Bob Bates officiating. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City.
The family suggests memorials given to the Art Fief Memorial Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
