Lawrence Alphonse Fellhoelter

Lawrence Alphonse Fellhoelter, age 90, died on May 10, 2022, in Great Bend, Kansas at his home in Brookdale Assisted Living Center. He was born on July 25, 1931, in Oakley, Kansas the son of Herman and Odella (Comeau) Fellhoelter, Sr.

Larry was a United States Air Force veteran having served in the Korean War from 1950 to 1954. He earned the rank of Staff Sargent while serving with a medic transport group. On June 30, 1955, he married Mary Lee Jobe in Hays. She preceded him in death on April 18, 2008. Larry held many occupations while in Ness City, but he was well known as the grocer at Larry’s IGA which he owned and operated for twelve years. Larry married Sherry Fernetti on November 13, 2009, in Great Bend. She preceded him in death on January 21, 2019.

Larry is survived by his son, Chuck Fellhoelter and his wife, Belinda; two grandchildren, Charlie Fellhoelter and Chelsea Walecki; and two great grandchildren, Boston and Paisley Walecki all of Great Bend; and two nephews, Andy Fellhoelter and wife, Kim, and Pat Fellhoelter and wife, Annetta all of Ness City whom he helped raise and mentor for many years; two brothers, Leland Fellhoelter and his wife, Carol, of Olathe,KS, and Melvin Fellhoelter and his wife, Elizabeth, of Medina, Ohio; two sisters, Pauline Westhusing and her husband, Eldon, of Hays and Doris Hale and her husband, Bill, of Shickley, Nebraska; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Larry in death are his parents, both wives, and three brothers, Herman Jr., Donald, and Dennis Fellhoelter, sister-in-law, Sharon Fellhoelter and nephew Bryce Fellhoelter.

The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022, 10:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church, Ness City followed by burial in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Viewing will be at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City on Friday, May 13, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. with rosary starting at 6:30 p.m. followed by visitation.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Honor Flight or the Sacred Heart Cemetery Fund.
