Richard Wayne Winter, age 62, died at his home on June 18, 2022. He was born on March 4, 1960, in Marion, Kansas, the son of Donald and Judith (Cogdill) Winter.
Dick moved with his family to Ness City in 1961 where he graduated from Ness City High School, met his wife to be, started a band, raised his family, and grew a business. Dick was the lead singer in the ever popular, local band, “Thunder and Lightning," he ran Ness City Auto Parts for many years, and was the owner and operator of Dick's Pumping Service, LLC.
On August 13, 1988, he married Michele Swim in Ness City, Kansas. Together they raised their two children and worked in the businesses together.
Dick is survived by Michele, his wife of 33 years; son Dylan Winter (Karissa Boyles), of Ness City; daughter, Courtney Haynes (Bradley) of Goessel; mother, Judith Winter of Ness City; two brothers, Randy Winter and Shawn Winter (Karen Seib) all of Ness City; nephew, Ryan Winter (Shannon Fehrenbach) of Ness City; sisters, Traci Maier (Craig) of Lakewood, Colorado and Kim Melichar (Mike) of Andale; and two grandchildren, Marley and Maggie Winter; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Don, and his brother, Kenneth.
Funeral service will be held on Thurs day, June 23, 2022, 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, Ness City, followed by burial in the Ness City Cemetery. Viewing will be held at Fitzgerald Funeral Home on Wednesday, from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. with the family present from 7:00 until 9:00 that evening.
