Erlinda G. Rayas, age 81, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at the Greeley County Long Term Care in Tribune, Kansas. She was born on October 12, 1942, to Eulalio and Faustina Ortiz Gutieriez in Bass Drop, Texas. From there, she moved to Brownsville, Texas, to Ulysses, KS, back to Brownfield, and finally to Tribune, Kansas where she lived for more than two decades.
Erlinda was a member of the Christian faith and was a devout mother who raised her boys to be respectful and polite to everyone. She had great pride in keeping a clean home and spent hours keeping the yards clean. She loved listening to music and taught her boys to dance to Mexican, and real County & Western. She had a passion for finding treasures in thrift stores and garage sales.
Erlinda is survived by her five sons, Andres Diaz of Burlington, Iowa, Lupe Diaz of Brownfield, Texas, Bobby Rayas of Tribune, Kansas, Richard Rayas of Beloit, Kansas, Carl Rayas of Fort Collins, Colorado, her siblings Joe Gutieriez, of Brownfield, Texas, Petra Florez, of Brownfield, Texas, Lupe Salas, of Brownfield, Texas, Yolanda Gutieriez, of Brownfield, Texas, Janie Miranda of Brownfield, Texas, and Josie Melendez of Chicago, Illinois, 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial Services are planned for Saturday, July 6, 2024, at the Price and Sons Funeral Home at 322 2nd St., Tribune, Kansas at 10:30 a.m.
