Jose D. Mendoza Borunda, died April 18, 2023 at St Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. He was born October 16, 1964 in Satevo, Chihuahua, Mexico the son of Jesus and Ignacia (Borunda) Mendoza.
Jose was born and raised in Satevo. It was there that he met and later married Rafaela Alvarez Chacon. She survives. They came to Garden City in the spring of 1989 and started a family. He was a dedicated, hardworking family man. He enjoyed the 35 years of employment at Tyson and was still thinking of work even when he was on vacation. Outside of work he could be found tending to his gardens and often shared the harvest with friends and neighbors. This giving spirit is one of the things for which he will be remembered. He lovingly built a home for his wife, sons, daughter-in-law, grandchildren family and friends to gather for food and make memories. It was his final labor of love and legacy. They will cherish the memories he helped to create.
In addition to his Wife, he is survived by his Children-Jose Gil (Karime Tricsy) Mendoza & Guadalupe Mendoza; Grandchildren-Adelyn Mendoza, Jose Gil Mendoza, Jasmin Marie Mendoza & Luz Alejandra Mendoza; Siblings- Guadalupe (Socorro) Mendoza, Gerardo (Concepcion) Mendoza, Cesaria (Chilo) Mendoza, Anselmo Mendoza, Faustino (Olivia) Mendoza, Hortencia (Teodoro) Mendoz, Isidra Mendoza & Isabel (Alfredo)Mendoza. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held Sunday April 21, 2024 from 1:00-6:00 pm and Monday April 22, 2024 from 9:00am-3:00pm at Garnand Funeral Home with a Rosary to follow at 6:00 pm at St Mary Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will be held 12:00 Tuesday April 23, 2024 also at St Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Jacob Schneider as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery.
