In loving memory of a very cherished father, grandfather, brother, and uncle whose departure from this world has left the woods more quiet and the streams of rivers more still.
Jack Dean Geisler was 74 when he passed away peacefully on the early morning of February 12th, 2024. JD spent most of his life living in Downs, KS where he worked as a roofer and was a committed husband, father, and grandfather.
JD was born in Beloit, KS on June ,13th of 1949. In 1972 on February 11th he married the love of his life Cynthia Geisler. The two then welcomed their son Jeff in 1974 who then was JD’s right hand man and forever fishing/hunting partner.
JD had attended public school and went straight to the workforce after leaving school in early high school years. JD was one of the young men that helped build the Waconda lake and after the lake was finished up he had continued the work force as a roofing contractor.
JD was a very special man with a huge heart, he made sure that everyone in the room would have a smile on their face. His hands were skilled at fishing and hunting, so skilled that it was almost an art to him. Before JD had grandchildren he taught his son Jeff everything that he knew, the two had barely spent anytime home if you needed to find them you would have to look in the woods or by the rivers. People often referred to him as the “best fisherman around” and if anyone had any questions about fishing, he was the man they all went to. He was full of wisdom both inside and outside of the woods, he would share stories and people would come back wanting more. Being able to walk around in the woods with him was truly a cherished moment and you would gain a whole new understanding of nature. His legacy will not only live on as the best fisherman but also as a man of good heart full of love, and sometimes stubbornness, he truly left an imprint on those that he loved. JD was very devoted to his grandchildren and made sure to teach them his way of life, and they will cherish those memories for a lifetime. He was the perfect grandfather and would go as far as letting his granddaughters paint his toenails hot pink! One of JD’s favorite times would be in the summer, inviting all of the family down for a fishing trip and follow it up with a huge fish fry. JD’s wisdom will continue to guide us all; as we all say our goodbyes, remember that he is fishing the best rivers up in heaven as god rest his soul, may he rest in peace, we love you papa.
He is survived by his son Jeff Geisler, his grandchildren Rihannah, Kylia, Treyton, and Dane Geisler. Sisters JoAnn Robinson, Barb Geisler, and Bea Platter, and brother Jerry Geisler. JD is preceded in death by his parents Jack and Freda Geisler, brother Jim Geisler, sisters Ruth Bryant, Kathleen Stanfield, and Marlyn White
