Mary Anne Johnson, 84, of rural Bogue, Kansas, died June 6, 2022, at Dawson Place in Hill City.
She was born January 5, 1938, in Phillipsburg, the only child of
Alvena (Sims) and Marion Francis Kinney. Anne attended schools in
Richfield, Coolidge, Rexford, and Webster and was a 1955 graduate of
Long Island High School. She married Loren Johnson June 5, 1955, at the
Stockton Methodist Church. They celebrated 67 years of marriage this
month. The couple made their home on a farm north of Bogue.
Anne was a member of the Bogue Community United Methodist Church,
United Methodist Women, and Builders Class. She worked for 25 years at
the Farmers State Bank in Bogue. She served two terms on the Graham
County Library Board and over 25 years as the Graham County United
Methodist Parish Treasurer. She also held various offices in TPM Club,
Builders Class, United Methodist Women and Harmony Bridge Club. She was a
Cub Scout Den Mother, 4-H leader, Sunday School teacher, Church board
member and served on the first Graham County Parish Council when it was
formed in 1971.
Anne was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by three
sons: Steven Johnson and wife Sheryl of Oakley, Terry Johnson and wife
Suzanne of Lawrence, Corey Johnson and wife Joanne of Bogue; three
daughters: Vicki Johnson of Bogue, Sherri Brown and husband Troy of
Hays, and Jessica Dirks and husband Troy of Garden City; 18
grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
