James LeRoy Whipple, 88 passed away May 21, 2022, at Hodgeman County Intermediate Swing Bed, Jetmore, Kansas.
He was born March 29, 1934, in Powers County, Colorado, the son of James Bowie and Winnifred Burk Whipple. A longtime area resident; he was the Owner/Operator of the Jim Whipple Service Station.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Jetmore; the Jedidiah Smith Muzzleloaders, was a charter member of the full Gospel International mens group, the Pairs and Squares Square Dancers and the Jetmore Fire Department.
On November 25, 1954, he married Marcella DeLaney in Tribune, Kansas. She survives.
Other survivors include; three daughters, Marcia (Jay) Hahn, Hanston, Marla (Jay) Burns, Hutchinson and Marlene Maupin, Jetmore; a brother, David Whipple, Jetmore, eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by; a daughter, Machele Reneé Whipple, a brother, Henry Whipple, two sisters, Alberta Reiger and Roberta Winget.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Jetmore United Methodist Church, with Reverend Mark Durham and Pastor Peter Mtuamwari presiding. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Beckwith Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Fairmount Cemetery, Jetmore, Kansas.
