December 3, 1950 - July 7, 2023

David Rose was born December 3, 1950 in Smith Center, Ks.  His parents were Lyle D. Rose and Fronna L. (King) Rose.  

He lived his entire life in Phillipsburg, Ks.  He attended Phillipsburg schools through high school and then attended Colby Junior College followed by pursuing a degree in geology at Fort Hays.  

He died July 7, 2023 in Phillipsburg, KS at the age of 72.  

He was predeceased by his parents.  

He is survived by sisters Sharon Kellogg and husband Ken of Andover, KS, and Marian Silkman of Hays, KS; five nieces and nephews; and five grandnieces and nephews.  

His favorite activity was sports memorabilia and traded sports cards in his adult years.  

In his earlier years, he enjoyed playing percussion in the Maverick and rodeo bands in Phillipsburg.  The Maverick band would travel around area towns and play concerts and enjoy fellowship. His entire family were active participants in the bands. 

Because of an eyesight problem he wasn't able to drive.  But took pride in his ability to walk around town.  He would typically walk downtown to lunch, then back again for Cokes with friends and then to the movie theater.

Funeral services will be held Saturday July 15 at 10:30 in the First Christian Church, Phillipsburg with Pastor LeRoy Herder officiating.  The service will be streamed live on the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel Facebook page. Burial will follow in the West Cedar Cemetery, Phillips County.  

Mr. Rose will lie in state from noon until 9 p.m. on Thursday and again on Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg.
