Ivis Wayne Hanson

Ivis Wayne Hanson, long time farmer, rancher of Altory township was born September 2, 1921, in Kanona, Kansas, the son of Otto & Bozina (Votapka) Hanson and departed this life on September 8, 2024, at the age of 103.

He was a lifelong resident of Decatur County, living on the farm until 2005 when he moved into Wheatridge Terrace retirement apartments in Oberlin, Kansas. He was a member of the United Church of Oberlin, the Oberlin American Legion and VFW. Ivis loved to watch TV, read, keep up with his favorite sports teams, and most of all he loved to visit with his family and friends.

He graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1940, and after three and half years in the Army and a WWII veteran, he graduated from Kansas State University 1952.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother: Evald (1968); two sisters: Violet (1984) and Goldie (2005).

He is survived by a host of nephews and nieces.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Plumer-Gobber Funeral Home Oberlin, Kansas. Burial will be in Kanona Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made out to Jennings United Methodist Church. Condolence can be left at www.plumergobber.com.
