Jacquetta Mae Houser, age 102, of Quinter, KS passed away Friday, May 12, 2023 at the Gove County Medical Center Long Term Care in Quinter, KS. She was born July 26, 1920 to John and Bertha Reed.

She graduated from Quinter High School in 1938 and attended Pasadena Junior College after high school.

On April 25, 1942 she married Roger J. Houser in Quinter. Soon after, he left to serve his country in WWII with the United States Air Force.

Her life was full and busy as a mother and running a restaurant with her husband. After the sale of their restaurant, The J&R Grill, she helped her husband at Quinter Grain Company by weighing trucks during harvest for 28 years and often in later years with her two granddaughters in tow.

She loved her family and being a homemaker. She enjoyed collecting and selling antiques and turquoise jewelry and had a great love for animals. She loved spending time traveling especially to New Mexico and California to spend time with family. She was an avid sports fan, loved KU basketball and the Lakers.

Jacquetta is survived by her sons, Roger and Sue Houser and Lonnie and Michelle Houser; two granddaughters, Heather and Thad Whalen and Andrea Hargitt; grandson Greg Youngblood; nine great-grandchildren, Stella, Sophie and Jude Whalen, Jonah and Sydney Ruckman, Whitley and Savannah Hargitt and Zach and Cody Youngblood.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and her siblings Effie Wigington, Harry Reed and Bobby Reed.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 22 at 3:00 p.m. with visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Schmitt Funeral Home in Quinter, KS. Burial at Baker Township Cemetery in Quinter immediately following the service.
