Mary L. Torson, age 80, passed away on Friday, November 3, 2023, at the Park Lane Nursing Home in Scott City, Kansas. She was born on February 15, 1943, in Scott City, Kansas, the daughter of Richard Wayne and Elsie Mae Smith McEachern.
A lifetime resident of Scott City, Kansas, she was a waitress at Kelly’s Cafe in Scott City for many years where she met her husband, and later was a retail clerk, and a home healthcare provider.
She was a member of the First Christian Church, Pink Ladies, was an avid bowler bowling in several leagues and was a past Girl Scout leader, all in Scott City, Kansas.
On September 15, 1959, she married Martin L. Torson in Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico. He passed away on December 19, 2010, in Scott City, Kansas.
Survivors include her son Martin, Jr. and Debbie Torson of Alba, Texas, daughters Doreena and Randy Marshall of Garden City, Kansas, Rebecca Tresner of Pratt, Kansas, Joletta and Jack Mize of Basehor, Kansas, Shelly and Darrel Berry of Scott City, Kansas, brothers John and Kay McEachern of Ulysses, Kansas, Richard and Jamie McEachern of Scott City, Kansas, sister Twila McLean of Garden City, Kansas, 11 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two grandchildren, and four sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 20, 2023, at the First Baptist Church in Scott City, Kansas with Rev. Kyle Evans presiding.
