Dolores T. Dreiling

Dolores T. Dreiling, 95, Overland Park, died Thursday, January 18, 2024 at Silvercrest at Deer Creek Senior Living.

She was born July 22, 1928 in Catharine, Kansas the daughter of Jacob J. and Clara (Karlin) Schmidt. In 1946, she graduated from Girls Catholic High School, and on October 18, 1948, she was united in marriage to Donald J. “Don” Dreiling in Catharine. They celebrated nearly 65 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on July 6, 2013. In 1991, Don and Dolores made their home in Overland Park after living in Connecticut for 16 years. She was a member of Church of the Nativity Catholic Church in Leawood. Dolores was a talented seamstress, patiently created intricate needlepoint, and enjoyed playing Bingo. Together, Don and Dolores enjoyed traveling all over the world.

Survivors include her son, Tony Dreiling and wife Cyndy of Hays, two daughters, Miki Baird and husband Curt of Overland Park and Carolyn Hammerschmidt and husband Neil of Bloomington, IN, two sisters-in-law, Nettie Schmidt of Richardson, TX and Donna Jean Dreiling of Hays, five grandchildren, Jamie Baird and partner Tony Schwab, Jennifer Baird, Maria O’Reardon and husband Dan, Adam Hammerschmidt and wife Katie, and Susan Dreiling and husband Johnny Hill, five great grandchildren, Cody and Jackson O’Reardon, Zavier and Wyatt Hammerschmidt, and Penelope Lou Hill, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Don, a daughter, Mary Dreiling, two grandchildren, Daniel and Mary Christina Hammerschmidt, four brothers, Lucius, James, Tush, and Tony, and eight sisters, Hilaria, Regina, Agnes, Johanna, Sybilla, Sr. ClareAnn, Pia, and Roseann.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Monday, January 22, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hays, with Fr. Richard Daise officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until service time at church on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Silvercrest at Deer Creek or to Kansas City Hospice.
