Margie Beryl Stevens, age 90, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at the Park Lane Nursing Home in Scott City, Kansas. She was born on May 24, 1934, in Scott County, Kansas, the daughter of Brannon Burl & Reba Catherine Walker Harkness. A lifetime resident of Scott City, Kansas, she was a farmwife, nurse, and musician.
Margie played the organ and piano for dances and founded and led the Hit-n-Miss senior citizen band for more than 30 years. Margie was a 15-year-old graduate of Scott Community High School, Class President of the Class of 1950, a 4-H leader, VIP Center board member volunteer, and a member of the First Christian Church in Scott City, Kansas.
On February 25, 1951, she married Herbert A. Stevens in Scott City, Kansas. He passed away on October 13, 2020, in Scott City, Kansas.
Survivors include her Two Sons - Rick Stevens of Scott City, Kansas, and Stacy Stevens of Colorado Springs, Colorado, One Daughter - Colette & Steve Robinson of Vienna, Virginia, Daughter in law Ilene Stevens of Indianola, Iowa, Five Grandsons - Chandler & Mara Stevens of St. Augustine, Florida, Corbin & Heidi Stevens of Scott City, Kansas, Curtis & Theresa Stevens of Minneapolis, Kansas, Sean Stevens of Atwood, Kansas, Seth Stevens of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Two Granddaughters – Cristalyn Kirchhoff of Smith Center, Kansas and Stefanie Stevens of Kansas City, Missouri, and sister Kathryn Maudlin of Chapin, South Carolina, and Twelve Great-Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters Helen Weichman, Doris Strickert, and Emma Greenlee, one brother Robert Harkness, one son - Mark Stevens, one daughter - Melody Stevens, and one grandson - Brannon Chayston Stevens.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 5, 2024, at the First Christian Church in Scott City, Kansas with Rev. Rodney Hopper & Steve Payne presiding.
