Chanxay (Semung) Thammavongsa 65, passed away peacefully while in hospice care surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, April 25, 2024 in Garden City, Kansas. She was born on May 4, 1958 at Vientiane(Ban Mai), Laos the daughter of Sai and Thom Semung. Chanxay married Kaen Thammavongsa on January 1981.
Together, they immigrated to the United States on May 20, 1990 where they settled in Garden City, Kansas. Chanxay started working at Tyson in 1994 where she ultimately retired after 25 years. During her free time, her hobbies included cooking for her family and friends. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her beloved grandchildren. She was very much loved by her children and grandchildren and as well as the local Laotian community.
She is survived by her husband Kaen Thammavongsa, her son, Jason (Manee) Thammavongsa, her 4 daughters Noy Thammavongsa, Phon (Levi) Huber, Lamon (Leo) Bojorquez, Andi Thammavongsa and her 13 grandchildren.
Memorial Service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday May 4, 2024 at Garnand Funeral home in Garden City, Kansas. There will no visitation. Condolences may be post at www.garnandfuneralhomes.com
