He was an example of true stewardship to his land and cattle, working closely with Audobon of Kansas and the Defenders of the Wildlife. Calvin married the love of his life, Lillie Herrera, on May 15, 1992, and together they raised four children: Rene Junior, Krystal Rene, MyKel John, and AmmahRye Jeslie.

Calvin was a loving and devoted husband and father who put his family first. He was active in his community taking on roles such as volunteer firefighter, young men’s leader and active member of the LDS church.

Calvin was welcoming to all with his authentic and gentle persona, warm smile, contagious laugh and wonderful sense of humor. He always gave the time and attention to make people feel genuinely loved and cared for, forever offering a listening ear and helping hand. You could catch Calvin in his spare time with a book in hand. He loved reading and his collection of books.
