Elzana Marie Rowe, of Dorrance, KS, passed away on January 6, 2024, at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, KS, at the age of 74. She was born on March 12, 1949, to Edward and Wilma (Garrettt) Thielen in Russell, KS. She married Jerry Lee Rowe on September 16, 1969, in St. Michaels, Arizona at the Navajo Reservation.
Elzana grew up in Dorrance and graduated from Dorrance High School in 1967. After high school she went to Cosmetology School in Salina. Elzana and Jerry lived in Arizona, Chicago and later moved to Seattle where they owned Eye’s Rite Optical until 2005 when they moved back to Dorrance.
Elzana was a very patient, laid back person and had a good sense of humor. She loved to sing and had a beautiful voice. She loved butterflies and animals and was a garage sale queen; but mostly she loved her family and spending time with Jerry. They were a team and were always together.
Elzana is survived by her sons, Craig Rowe and Edward Rowe of Dorrance, and Aaron Rowe of Terre Haute, IN; sister, and Jeanine (Steve) Eschbaugh of Wilson; sister-in-law, Barbara McGee; and three grandchildren, Kylie Rowe, Gage Bean, and Cash Rowe.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Wilma Thielen; husband, Jerry; siblings, Brian & Phillip Thielen and Marcine Howey.
Elzana had a deep love and devotion for her husband, children, family, and friends. Her great love and faith in God were not only a constant source of strength for herself, but also for all who knew her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 15, 2024, at 10:30 AM with visitation at 9AM until service time at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dorrance.
