Raquel Gomez, 72, died Friday, September 8, 2023 at Hays Med Center in Hays, Kansas. She was born February 16, 1951 in Carrizo Springs, Texas, the daughter of Bernardino Gomez and Isabella Chavez.

Raquel was born and raised in Carrizo Springs.

She worked at Del Monte Factory before moving to Charlotte, TX then later moved to Garden City where she became a homemaker.

Raquel loved playing bingo. Other hobbies include gardening and crocheting blankets for her children who she loved very much.

She is survived by her children, Anna Luisa Gomez of Marysville, WA, Estela Felan of Garden City, KS, Josephina Gomez of Garden City, KS, Maribel Gomez of Moriarty, NM, Agapito Gomez of Lyons, KS and Norma Jean Gomez of Garden City, KS, two sisters, Maria Rosario Uyemura of Las Animas, CO and Ramona Torres of Lamar, CO, 22 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her parents, son John Lee Gomez, step-Brother Joe Villa and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 15, 2023 at Corner Stone Church in Garden City with Pastor Raul Silva officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City.

Memorial are suggested to Raquel Gomez Memorial Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home.
