The world lost a bright light on Thursday, February 1, 2024. Marilyn Chestnut, a long-time resident of Phillipsburg, passed at the age of 83, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories. Born on July 27, 1940, in Webster, KS, to Harvey and Iris (Garringer) Randall, she tied the knot with her beloved James A. Chestnut on December 2, 1956, in Speed, KS. James passed away on September 15, 2007, and was joined in death by Marilyn's parents and brother, Garold Randall.
Marilyn's primary occupation was that of a homemaker. However, she also spent time managing the Borums Care Home in Phillipsburg.
Though she is no longer with us, Marilyn's spirit lives on through her son, Earnest of Phillipsburg, and daughters Cindy S. Kinyon and husband Rod of Topeka, Diana Phillips and husband Charles of Wamego, and Rhonda Keesee and husband Doug of Phillipsburg, along with her brother, Ronald L. Randall of Hutchinson. She also leaves behind an impressive 21 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 5, 2024 at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, with Pastor LeRoy Herder officiating. The services will be streamed live on the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel Facebook page. Burial will follow in the Marvin Cemetery, Glade, KS.
Mrs. Chestnut will lie in state from noon until 9 p.m. Sunday with the family receiving friends for visitation from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
