Maxine Marie Greene

Maxine Marie Greene, 63, of Hays passed away on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2023, at the Good Samaritan Society Care Center in Hays. 

She was born Nov. 18, 1960, in Lincoln, Kan., to Bill Gene and Eldora Marie (Deneke) Cole.  She married Andrew “Andy” Greene on May 14, 1983, in Lincoln.

She and her husband owned and operated Greene’s Upholstery. She was a seamstress and would work on car seats, car tops, interiors, furniture, covers and anything else that could be sewed.  

Maxine was a 1978 graduate of Lincoln High School, attended Kansas State University and moved to Hays in 1984. She enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, convertibles, reading and her family. 

She is survived by her husband, Andy Greene, of the home; her daughter, Marci Greene, Colorado Springs, Colo.; her brothers and sister, Jim Cole and his wife, Paula, Greenville, Wis.; Ken Cole And wife, Jaynell, Russell; Don Cole and wife, Jan, Wilmar, Minn.; Bob Cole and wife, Kim, Andale; Jo Ann Mote and her husband, Tracy, Weskan; Dave Cole and wife, Sharon, Norfolk, United Kingdom; her mother-in-law, Edoline Jane Greene, Scottsdale, Ariz.; her nieces and nephews; her great-nieces and great-nephews; and her little four-legged friend, Walker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill Gene and Eldora Marie Cole; and her father-in-law, Norman Edward Greene.

A celebration of life service will be at a later date, and the family will have a private inurnment.
