It is with heavy hearts that we anounce the passing of Gay C. Morgan, a beloved member of our community. Gay peacefully departed this world on Thanksgiving morning, November 23, 2023, at the age of 92 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was born on April 28, 1931, in Ranger, Texas, to her devoted parents, Georgia and Matthew Brown.
Gay will be forever cherished in the memories of her loving children, Dennis Asper of Topeka, KS, and Glenda Clower of Salina, KS. She was a cherished grandmother to her 9 grandchildren, Nicki, Heather, Kristy, Brendon, Erin, Rob, Eric, Nici, and Alex. Gay was also blessed with 17 greatgrandchildren and 1 great greatgranddaughter. She is also cherished by 2 nieces Sherry Hanneman and Joni Hanneman-Wilson & her husband Chuck Wilson, and a great-nephew Jash Lavietes all of Las Vegas, NV.Gay was preceded in death by her parents, Georgia and Matthew Brown; her beloved sister Gwyn Hanneman; and her adoring husband Ray Asper.
Gay’s education at Garden City High School, where she participated in several activities including being a Majorette for the high school band. All of which laid the foundation for a lifetime of accomplishments. She continued her pursuit of knowledge at Garden City Community College and Southwestern College, expanding her horizons.In her professional life, Gay exemplified dedication, and commitment as the esteemed owner of Stenographic Service. Founded by her mother, Georgia, the public accounting and income tax preparation firm became a testament to Gay’s unwavering work ethic and passion for serving others. Her zest for life and indomitable spirit kept her working well beyond the age when most people retire; leaving a lasting impact on all who sought her expertise.
Gay’s spiritual journey was guided by her deep faith and devotion to her places of worship. She found solace and inspiration at the Community Congregational Church for most of her life, before becoming an esteemed member of the Presbyterian Church in the 1990’s. Her angelic voice graced the choirs of both congregations, lifting the spirits of all who heard her.
Outside of her professional and religious pursuits, Gay found joy and fulfillment in various hobbies. She delighted in singing, with frequent solos in church and community choirs, sharing her beautiful voice with all who listened. Gay’s green thumb was evident in her flourishing gardens, where she spent countless hours nurturing and cultivating nature’s beauty. Additionally, her creativity shone through her talent as a skilled seamstress and costumer for community theater, collaborating closely with her dear friend Skip Mancini for over 30 years. She had great compassion for children, especially those in troubled homes which is why she became a “CASA” volunteer. Gay also was a realtor for many years.
A Memorial service to honor and celebrate the life of Gay Morgan will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. The service will take place at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City, KS. The compassionate and professional staff at Garnand Funeral Home is assisting the family during this difficult time, providing comfort and support as they navigate their grief.
Gay Connell Morgan will forever be remembered for her unwavering dedication to her work, her boundless love for her family, and her passion for music and creativity. Her legacy of kindness, strength, and grace will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. May her soul find eternal peace as her memory lives on in the hearts of her loved ones.
