Lanny Lloyd Davis

Lanny Lloyd Davis, 83 of Norton, Kansas passed away peacefully on January 7, 2023, at his home in Norton. He was preceded in death by his parents Olive and Glenn Davis, his parents-in-law Lyle LaCourt, Madeline and Lee Nichols, his brother Gary Davis, sister-in-law Patricia Santana, and a great-granddaughter, Gloria VanSkike.

Lanny was born on February 23, 1939, to Olive and Glenn Davis. He attended Norton schools and was involved with many activities. He was proud to have completed his confirmation class and joined the United Methodist Church as a young boy. In his junior high years, he contracted polio, during which time he was lovingly cared for by his mother Olive. The battle with polio postponed his high school graduation a year and Lanny graduated with the class of 1958, but would attend the reunions for the class of 1957, his original classmates, as well. When he was old enough, Lanny joined the National Guard. After graduating from high school, Lanny joined the Airforce where he served for two years. He was stationed in New Mexico where he met Sara, his wife of 60 years. They married in June 1962. Lanny and Sara settled in Norton, where they raised three children, Elizabeth, Lana, and David. Lanny was involved with numerous local groups and activities and was a friend to many. He worked for forty years at Brown's Store downtown. He was a member of the American Legion and the Methodist Men’s group. Lanny loved fishing, coin and stamp collecting, his pets, and loved his family above all.

Lanny is survived by his wife Sara; his is three children; Elizabeth Lombardi and husband Anthony of Cozad, Ne., Lana Jones and husband Kelly of Norton, David Davis and wife Leigh of Norton. His sister Karen McCrorey and spouse Donnie of Centerville, Virginia, and brother-in-law Charles LaCourt and wife Sharon. Grandchildren DJ Porter of Norton, Joshua Porter and wife Jessica of Norton, Sara Halligan and husband Brock of Cozad, Nebraska, Jessica Porter of Cozad, Nebraska, Shannon Douglas and husband Kyle of Bavaria, Germany, Lisa VanSkike and husband Josh of North Platte, Nebraska., Rachel Bell and husband Kyle of Bern, Kansas, Alyssa Boser of Salt Lake City, Utah, Christian Boser of Tenaha, Texas, Kaytlin Snow, and husband Caleb, of Norton, and Andrew Davis and wife Eden of Norton. His great-grandchildren; Serenity, Gorgia, Ayva, Blaze, Silas, Esme, Kale, Graham, Mae, Lorelei, Rose, Henry, Lily, James, and Summit.

A memorial service will be held at the United Methodist Church in Norton on Thursday, January 12, at 2:00 pm.

Lanny willed his body to be donated to Kansas University Medical School to further medical research. Plumer-Gobber Funeral Home in Norton is assisting with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made out to the Norton Lions Club. Condolences may be left at www.plumergobber.com
