John William Luetters

John William Luetters, 80, died March 16, 2024, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, KS. He was born August 30, 1943, in Ransom, KS, to Francis Edgar Luetters and Josephine (Hilmes) Luetters.

John was a 1962 graduate of Ransom High School. He served in the United States Army from January 1964 through January 1966. John was a machinist at Eaton Corporation, retiring with over 40 years of service. John was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church, Hutchinson, KS, St. Teresa Catholic Church Men’s Club, and the Knights of Columbus.

He enjoyed rebuilding motors, sitting on his porch watching the neighborhood children and animals, and working Bingo at the St. Teresa Catholic Church Men’s Club. He loved his family and friends and treasured being a husband, father, grandfather, godfather, brother, and friend.

On September 14, 1968, he married Willa Sue Rider, in Ransom, KS. They shared over 55 years of marriage.

John is survived by: his wife, Willa ‘Susie’ Luetters of Hutchinson, KS; sons, Kevin (Trudy) Luetters of Newton, IA, and Terry Luetters of Shawnee, KS; granddaughter, Alexis Luetters of Jefferson, IA; four goddaughters; brothers, Gene (Claudia) Luetters of Salina, KS, and Jerome (Marilyn) Luetters of Highlands Ranch, CO; sisters, Rozanne Veeder of Dodge City, KS, Janice (Wayne) Houdeshell of Dodge City, KS, Carolyn (Jake) Maska of Hays, KS, and Linda (Dennis) Hess of Great Bend, KS; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Vernon Luetters, Tom Luetters, and Louis Luetters; brother-in-law, Merton Veeder; and sister-in-law, Judy (Meis) Luetters.

Parish Rosary will be 9:30 a.m. Friday, March 22, 2024, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Both services will be at St. Teresa Catholic Church, 211 E. 5th, Hutchinson, KS, with Father Jerome Spexarth officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2024, in the St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery, Ransom, KS, with Father Pascal Klein officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.
