LeRoy L. Sabata, 76, died Thursday, May 11, 2023, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. He was born January 22, 1947, in David City, Nebraska, the son of Joseph B. & Alice E. (Koza) Sabata.

LeRoy lived a big part of his life in eastern Nebraska where he grew up and attended schools.

He served and was stationed in Germany in the United States Army from 1965 to 1968 during the Vietnam War.

On February 10, 1968, he married Connie J. Lawson in Vilseck, Germany. LeRoy and Connie moved to Garden City, Kansas in 1984, and has lived in Garden City since.

LeRoy enjoyed farming and also had various hobbies including woodworking, traveling, camping, and watching western movies. He was an enthusiast of antique tractors and the military and loved the culture of the Native Americans.

Survivors include three sons Lee R. and wife Jamie Sabata of Tuttle, Oklahoma, Marcus L. and wife Tammie Sabata of Omaha, Nebraska, and Joseph E. Sabata of Garden City, Kansas; his partner Liz Anderson of Holcomb, Kansas; a brother Russell Sabata of Nebraska; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

LeRoy is preceded in death by his wife Connie who died on November 11, 2006. He is also preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Marvin Sabata, Raymond Sabata, Lyle Sabata, and Kenny Sabata; and a sister Shirley Wittulski.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City, Kansas with Pastor Rick Beard officiating. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City with military graveside rites conducted by the Kansas Army National Guard and the American Legion District #8 Honor Guards. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City.
