John Orlando Ross of Hays Kansas, passed away on Dec. 23, 2022, at Rush County Memorial Hospital swing bed unit in La Crosse.
He was born July 9, 1955, in Plainville to Emmett Alvin Ross and Julia Sarah (Smith) Ross. He graduated from Stockton High School and Salina Area Vocational Technical School where he studied electronics.
John worked a variety of jobs, including laying fiber optic lines for AT&T, being a ranch hand, working at the power plant in Stockton, and welding, among others. In his younger years, he loved riding his Harley, hanging out with friends, and attending Grateful Dead concerts. More recently he was an avid gamer, often playing video games into the wee hours of the morning. He continued to enjoy hard rock music.
John is survived by his oldest sister, Olive (Ross) McReynolds, and 11 nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, four siblings: Emmett Ross Jr., Robert Ross, Jack Ross, and Marla Goodman, as well as one nephew, Jack Ross Jr.

It was John’s wish to not have a formal service or burial.
