Don DuVarney, age 83 of Russell, Kansas died Saturday, August 3, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Society – Decatur County.
Don was born on July 10, 1941, in Springfield, Massachusetts to Donald and Helen (Bourne) DuVarney.
As a United States Air Force Veteran, Don’s passion was in the air. He was an accomplished pilot and found peace and joy in the heavens. His other pride and joy were his family – his son, Evan DuVarney (Cathleen) of Russell, Kansas and his daughter, Shayna DuVarney (Jimmy Hunkapiller) of McKinney, Texas. But nothing made him smile more than his granddaughter, Neleh.
Don enjoyed anything outdoors. Hiking was a favorite pastime, but he truly enjoyed the art of fly fishing.
A memorial mass is planned for later this year at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church in McKinney, Texas where his inurnment will take place.
