Janis Elouise Brack, 77, passed away April 14, 2023, at the University of Kansas Health System-Great Bend Campus. She was born December 22, 1945, at Hoisington, to Bryan & Sadie (Kaufman) Stalcup.
A lifetime area resident, Janis was a homemaker and managed Stop 2 Shop in Hoisington for many years. She enjoyed tending to her flower gardens, traveling, puzzles, and the challenge of a good crossword puzzle. Janis especially loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include, three daughters, Shannon King and husband Greg and Sherri Brack both of Great Bend and Sandra Brack and wife Tammy of McPherson; a brother in law, George Benedick of Decatur, Tex.; two grandchildren, Morgan King and husband Cody Schridde and Ryan King; two great grandchildren, River Schridde and Fisher Schridde; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Glen Stalcup and Farrell Stalcup; three sisters, Lorraine Miller, Darlene Benedick and Jeanetta Deutsch; and her long time companion, Ed Peterson.
There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorial Graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at Great Bend Cemetery North with Pastor Lacey Bonine presiding.
Memorial contributions have been designated to the Clara Barton Foundation to benefit the Sadie Stalcup Scholarship Fund or Sunflower Shrine Club Travel Fund, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
