Richard Gary Hatfield, 69, passed away November 4, 2023 in Wichita.

He was born January 14, 1954, in Laxeu, France, the son of Richard Terry and Ruby Lorraine Fleming Hatfield. He grew up in Herington, Kansas.

He lived and taught in White City, Bazine, Larned for thirteen years and Miltonvale for fifteen years.

He graduated from Emporia State University with his teaching degree and received his master’s degree from Friends University, Wichita.

He was a church board member at the Miltonvale Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association, Kansas National Education Association, Larned County Club and Miltonvale Golf Course.  

Rick enjoyed anything sports, coaching, playing golf, watching westerns, and loved spending time with his grandkids.

On December 21, 1974, he married Darylene Sue France in Hope, Kansas. 

Survivors include his wife, Darylene Sue Hatfield, Miltonvale; two daughters, Carrie (Tyler) Olson, Liberty, Missouri and Christina (Todd) Kieffer, Kansas City, Missouri, son, Casey (Kaitlyn) Hatfield, Larned; six grandchildren, Grady and Gavin Olson, Wyatt and Weston Kieffer, Colby and Collins Hatfield; brother-in-law, Rodney (Betty) France, Edmond, Oklahoma; three nieces and nephews, Ash (Dawna) Noble, Brooke (Blake) Watkins, and Jacob (Kasei) France, and four great-nieces, Natalie, Hayzlie, Fallan and Nora.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Ruby Hatfield and his father and mother-in-law Lloyd and Miriam France.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 10, 2023 at Larned Assembly of God Church, with Pastor Ryan Webster presiding. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, November 9, 2023 with family present from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned.  Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery, Larned.
