Pharr, Texas, resident and former Goodland, Kansas, resident Clarice "Tootsie" Elizabeth Finley, 89, passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at the Goodland Regional Medical Center.
Clarice was born on January 25, 1933, in Yuma, Colorado, to Clarence E. and Lois I. (Hopkins) Taylor. She was one of seven children. She grew up and attended school in Goodland.
On August 15, 1951, she married Doyle D. Finley in San Diego, CA. To this union, two children were born: Elizabeth and Royce.
Growing up she worked in the family grocery store, Taylor's Grocery. After her marriage, she was a homemaker. Through the years she helped Doyle on the farm, and in his radiator shop, until they began to travel. She ended up in Texas where she could enjoy the warm climate.
She enjoyed traveling in her fifth wheel, reading Danielle Steel novels, and tending to her flowers. She also enjoyed card/domino night with friends, and hearing from her family. She had a passion for garage sales and finding a bargain. She was known for her homemade desserts.
Preceding her in death, were her parents, her husband Doyle, one brother; Clinton Taylor and two sisters; Dorothy Jackson and Marjorie Hildebrenner.
She is survived by her two children; Liz (Daryl) West of Goodland, KS and Royce Finley of Anchorage, AK, four grandchildren; Trina (Brett) Haggadone of Broomfield, CO, Kyler West of Goodland, KS, Alicia West of Olathe, KS, and Landon (Lory) West of Arkansas City, KS, seven great-grandchildren; Salym West, Alynna, Gavin, and Breece Haggadone, and Peighton, Finleigh, and Remi West, two brothers; Harland (Muriel) and Don (Barb) Taylor, one sister Bebe Young; brother-in-law, Jerry (Bonnie) Finley, sister-in-law’s Anna Taylor, and Sharon Finley.
