Elsie Jane (Holzmeister) Suppes – age 86, of Otis, Kansas passed away June 22, 2023, at Locus Grove Village Nursing Home in La Crosse, Kansas.
She was born December 25, 1936 on the family farm at Pfeifer, Kansas to Raymond J. and Helen (Basgall) Holzmeister. She married Julius J. Suppes on April 11, 1959, at Pfeifer, Kansas. He preceded her in death on April 15, 2019.
She was a homemaker, a farmer’s wife, and attended Pfeifer Grade School. Elsie was a member of Saint Ann’s Catholic Church at Olmitz, and Saint Fidelis Daughters of Isabella at Victoria. She was a wonderful cook, an avid reader, enjoyed sewing and her family.
Survivors include her children, Patrick Suppes, Otis, KS; Glen Suppes and wife, Rita, Lindsborg, KS; Jesse Suppes and wife, Lori, Salina, KS; Wanda Dietz and husband, Bob, Smith Center, KS; her 15 grandchildren, and her 22 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Helen Holzmeister; her husband, Julius; her sister, Viola Dechant; and her daughter-in-law, Kathleen Suppes.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 26, 2023, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Pfeifer with celebrant, Father James Moster O.F.M. Cap. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Pfeifer.
A vigil service, and a Daughters of Isabella rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, at Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary of Hays.
Visitation is from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, at Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary of Hays and from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Monday, at Holy Cross Catholic Pfeifer.
