Marion Kenneth Bahr, 94, passed away November 5, 2023, at Catholic Care Center, Bel Aire, Kan. He was born September 4, 1929, in Olmitz, to William F. and Anna M. (Hickey) Bahr.

He married Marian Helen “Ann” Hipp on May 18, 1953, in Odin. She died July 16, 2014. 

A lifetime Claflin resident, Marion worked for the Claflin Mill and later Miller’s of Claflin in the appliance and flooring installation departments.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Knights of Columbus Council 1500 and the V.F.W. Post 8668 in Claflin. Marion was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed fishing but especially loved spending time with his family. 

Survivors include four sons, Bill Bahr and wife Vicki of Rogers, Ark., Joe Bahr and wife Carolyn of Denver, Colo.; Tim Bahr and wife Tammi of Tallahassee, Fla., and Paul Bahr and wife Jeni of Ellsworth; two daughters, Rosemary Bachman and husband Tom of Lakin and Joan Klug and husband Bill of Odin; a brother, Robert Bahr of Houston, Texas; a sister, Rose Ann Wondra of Hoisington; 17 grandchildren, Heather Clark, Molly Shelden, Jenni Klienow, Amy Metro, Billy Klug, Jami Merlau, Kim Fisher, Kayla Johnson, Kevin Klug, Jeremy Bahr, Kenny Bahr, Ali Darhumb, Brit Harris, Michael Bahr, Mickey Bahr, Josh Bahr and Whitney Lee; 49 great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Bahr; five brothers, Cecil Bahr, Donald L. Bahr, Charles Bahr, Frederick Bahr and Francis Bahr; and a sister, Catherine Oborny. 

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, and 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Vigil service and Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7:00 p.m. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at Immaculate Conception Church, with Father Terrance Klein presiding. Interment will be in the Claflin Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard. 

Memorials have been designated to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, in care of Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, P.O. Box 146, Hoisington, KS 67544.
