Longtime Goodland, KS resident Edith Neva Snyder passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at the Goodland Regional Medical Center in Goodland.
Edith was born in Chicago, IL on February 17, 1931 to Phillip and Mary (Valenta) Phillips. At 3 months old, the family moved to Minneapolis, MN where she resided until her marriage to Robert (Bob) Snyder of Powell, WY on August 28, 1954.
She attended school in Minneapolis and graduated from Old South High School. She then went to college in St. Paul, MN where she obtained her LPN License. She worked for over 30 years as an LPN and 13 years as a psych nurse. Before getting her nursing license, she worked as an assistant secretary at Sports Afield, in the Pharmacy of U&M Hospital and in the accounting department with the USDA.
Bob and Edith were married for 58 years prior to his death, and they served at several small rural churches where Bob was Pastor.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Bob, 2 brothers Bill and Dan and a sister Ruth Mapston.
She is survived by her 2 daughters; Cheryl (Rich) Palmer of Newton, IA and Tracy Snyder of Apache Junction, AZ. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren; Clinton (Courtney) Henry, Linda Whalen, Natasha Henry, Michael (Hailey) Palmer and Breana Snyder; 10 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024 10:00 AM CT at the Least of Saints Church, 1305 E. 10th Street South, Newton, IA 50208. Private inurnment will be held in the Goodland Cemetery, Goodland, KS.
