Marvin J. McDill was born on December 19, 1934, in rural Jewell County, Kansas, to Raymond Alma McDill and Ruth May (Underwood) McDill, and he passed away on January 19, 2023, in Belleville, at the age of 88 years and 1 month.
Marvin attended the White School District to the 8th grade, and then he attended and graduated from Mankato High School, class of 1952.
He was drafted into the U.S. Navy, and was honorably discharged in 1957.
He was united in marriage to Marjorie Eilene Gunn on August 10, 1963, in Webber, Kansas, and became father to her two boys, Richard Alan Sholtz and Michael Wayne Metzler.
Mac and Eilene made their home in Belleville, where they were members of the First Baptist Church.
Mac worked for the Kansas Department of Transportation in Belleville, where he retired as superintendent. Following his retirement, Mac helped various area farmers during harvest time, and grew especially close to the Householder family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Eilene in 2010, sister Faryl M. Lange and her husband Raymond.
Mac is survived by his sons Richard Sholtz and wife Peggy of Chapman, Michael Metzler and wife Tammy of Goddard, brother Mahlon McDill of Mankato. He is also survived by his grandchildren Jeremy and Dawn Sholtz, Kelly Eilene (Sholtz) Frazier, Gabe and Kaitlin (Metzler) Buonfiglio; great-grandchildren Hailey and Hayden Frazier, Dylan and Rylee Sholtz, and Gabriel and Alicia Buonfiglio. Mac is also survived by his nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Funeral services will be Friday, January 27, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., at the First Baptist Church in Belleville. Graveside Services with U.S. Military Honors will follow at 1:30 p.m., at Evergreen Cemetery in Superior, Nebraska.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 26, from 1:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., with family greeting friends from 5pm – 7 p.m., at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home in Belleville.
Friends may also sign a register book and leave condolences for Mac on Thursday, January 26, from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m., at Melby Mortuary in Mankato.
Memorials are requested to the First Baptist Church of Belleville, and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
