Delmar Joseph Kaiser was born on July 10, 1937, on the family farm, South of Grainfield, Kansas to Joe L. and Flizita (Engel) Kaiser. He passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at Brookdale East Memory Care Facility in Wichita with final care provided by Faith Hospice. He was the oldest of three children. Surviving siblings are Marvin Kaiser and his wife, Betsy, of Portland Oregon and Mattie Umscheid and her husband, Bill of Wake Forest, North Carolina.
Delmar’s early education was in a one-room country school before graduating from Grainfield Rural High School. He then went on to Fort Hays State University for two years before joining the Army.
Delmar was united in marriage to Diana Roth on June 6, 1960, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Ellinwood, Kansas.
Delmar was county commissioner for 12 years in Gove County, a member of the George M. Scott Post 301 American Legion of Grainfield, a member of Farm Bureau, and a volunteer at the opera house. Delmar spent all of his life farming the family farm, which he jokingly named the Poor Farm. He raised many crops including wheat, corn, alfalfa, and milo. Delmar owned and operated D&D Ranching feedlot.
Delmar is survived by his wife, Diana, Grainfield; his five children: Brian (Brenda) Kaiser, Wichita, Karen (Dean) May, Las Cruces, New Mexico, Julie (Robert) Parks, Kansas City, Missouri, Lora (Robert) Billow, Anacortes, Washington, and Darrell (Frina) Kaiser, Park; fourteen grandchildren and two great-granddaughters. Delmar will be missed by many family and friends.
