Dennis L. Bieker, 83, Hays, died Saturday, October 12, 2024 at Via Christi Village.

He was born September 17, 1941 in Hays, the son of Fred and Mary (Klaus) Bieker.  Dennis graduated from St. Mary’s of the Plains High School in Dodge City and he graduated cum laude from St. Benedicts in Atchison in 1963.  He graduated with his Juris Doctorate from Washburn Law School in 1966 and started practicing law with Norbert Dreiling that same year.  He was a partner at Dreiling, Bieker, and Hoffman Law Office and has continued practicing law for 58 years.  His professional memberships included the Kansas Ethics and Grievance Committee (20 years), Kansas Bar Association, American Bar Association, and the American Trial Lawyers Association.        

On December 26, 1966, he was united in marriage to Marsha Ayres in Kansas City, Missouri.  He loved his family, practicing law, and traveling.  Dennis and Marsha enjoyed family trips to all 50 states, vacationed annually and semi-annually in Nantucket for 35 years, and he also traveled to Europe and South America with his uncle, A.F. Bieker.  He was an avid reader of the Wall Street Journal, a KU basketball fan, enjoying many games at Allen Fieldhouse, watched pro football, and listened to the Kingston Trio.  Dennis was actively involved throughout the community of Hays as a member of the Golden Belt Board of Directors (1972-present), Airport Committee, Chairman of TMP Endowment (20 years), St. Anthony Hospital Foundation Trustee, and Hays Medical Center Board of Directors (1991-2017). 

Survivors include his wife Marsha of Hays, his son, Chris Bieker and wife Leah of Denver, CO, daughter, Lorrie Windholz and husband Greg of Lawrence, brother, Larry Bieker and wife Barbara of Hays, sister, Nila Bieker of WaKeeney, four grandchildren, Natalie Windholz, Lacey Windholz, Ivy Bieker, and Easton Bieker, four sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Monday, October 21, 2024 at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Fr.
