Janice Ellen Fisher, 69, passed away February 15, 2024 after a long battle of cancer at her brother’s house in Wichita, Kansas.
She was born January 15th, 1955 in Larned, Kansas to Thaine and Ruby Beamer. She was the baby of the family.
She attended Larned schools graduating in 1973. She attended Hutchinson Juco for nursing, following in her mother and sister’s footsteps. After graduating she worked at St. Joe Hospital in Larned as a CNA in labor and delivery. She changed her mind and went into childcare through Barton County Community College. She opened and ran her own daycare, KIDSWRLD, for 25 years before retiring to be a foster parent for 15 years. She finally retired when her husband’s health started failing.
She married Thomas Wayne Fisher on April 16, 1977. They had four children Derek Thaine Fisher of Mount Hope, Matthew Thomas Fisher (husband to Elizabeth) of Larned, Leigha Janelle Fisher of Wichita, Kansas, Tarah Mervine Hopkins (wife to Alex Hopkins) of Larned.
She was a member of Church of Christ both in Larned and Wichita. She loved helping children either through her daycare or as a foster mom, her heart was always open. She grew up fishing, camping, and helping her mom in the kitchen.
Other survivors, besides her children, include: seven granddaughters Jenna Fisher, Sarah Fisher, Grace Fisher, Emma Hopkins, Emily Heron, Hailey Heron, Laila Heron; one grandson Emmet Fisher; one brother Larry Beamer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one brother, and one sister.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will take place on Friday, June 28, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned, with Jimmie Keas presiding. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday, June 27, 2024.
