February 23, 2004 - April 28, 2023

Brandon Gage Baker, 19, of Hoxie, Kansas, unexpectantly passed away on April 28, 2023, at his house in Goodland, Kansas. Brandon was the youngest son of Kirk and Kelly (Allen) Baker and was born February 23, 2004, in Henderson, Texas.

He attended Hoxie Community Schools graduating in May 2022.

Brandon had attended Northwest Kansas Technical College in Goodland, Kansas last August taking the auto technology program. He loved tinkering with old cars or trucks and buying, selling, or trading them. He always found a way to personalize his vehicles, painting, and making them reflect his personality. Brandon also loved riding his motorcycles and ATVs.

Brandon worked at Hoxie Ag and Radiator for two summers after his freshman and sophomore years and then worked on the family farm the past two summers.

Brandon was a happy-go-lucky young man who liked to make sure everyone felt included. He never knew a stranger and loved talking to everyone. He loved helping others and would just show up to shovel snow off the sidewalk or other chores someone needed done. He was accepting of others and generally had a kind word for everyone. Brandon was protective of his family, especially his cousins, nieces, nephews, and grandparents.

Brandon attended Hoxie Christian Church and was a junior Deacon. At a young age, he started going to the Sheridan County Health Complex LTCU with an Elder to serve communion to the residents. He knew them all by name and enjoyed visiting with them as much as they enjoyed him..

Brandon was a member of the Hoxie Christian Church, Hoxie Hot Rodders Club, and the Wheat State Mafia, a truck club. Each summer, Brandon loved helping Hoxie Hot Rodders with their car show and was usually seen giving rides on the kiddie train.

Brandon had a beautiful singing voice and was not afraid to share it. He would sing solos at church, took voice lessons with Bonnie Cameron, and even sang the Star-Spangled Banner at a July 4th program. He was in Hoxie High School Choir all four years. Brandon was a member of FFA all through high school. He participated in football his freshman year. He wrestled from age five and up into high school. He was a state qualifier his sophomore year when the team was state runner up. As a junior, he took sixth place in state wrestling as a part of the 2021 State Championship Team.

Brandon loved his family, and his loss leaves a huge hole in all their hearts. As one family member shared, “Brandon came into our lives unexpectedly and he left us unexpectedly. He brought all of us so much love and joy for 18 ½ years.” We will miss his love and huge hugs forever.

Brandon is survived by his parents Kirk and Kelly Baker of Hoxie, Kansas; brothers Travis Baker, wife Julie and daughters Allison and Caroline of Omaha, Nebraska, Trent Baker and wife Ashley, children, Addilyn, Ethan, Eli of Hoxie, Kansas; Tyler Baker and wife Becci and sons Rhett, Beau and Chase of Hoxie, Kansas, and Logan Baker of Carthage, Texas, Darrin Baker of Port Bolivar, Texas; sister Rianna Baker of Carthage, Texas; grandparents Roger and Tami Baker and Karen Allen; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by grandparents Byron and Shirley Baker and Darrell Allen.
