Donald J. Kober, 79, La Crosse, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at Rush County Memorial Hospital, La Crosse, Kansas.
Donald was born November 16, 1942, in Bison, Kansas, the son of Frank J. and Viola (Krestin) Kober. He was a lifelong resident of Rush County, Kansas. He was employed for the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) for 35 years before his retirement.
On September 5, 1964, he married Dalene F. Million at Rozel, Kansas.
Survivors include: his wife, Dalene Kober, La Crosse, Kansas; two sons, Franklin Kober, La Crosse, Kansas, and Randall Kober (Julie), Wichita, Kansas; two daughters, Tammy Proffitt (Joe), La Crosse, Kansas, and Sandra Davis (Kelly), Great Bend, Kansas; seven grandchildren, Adam Kober (Cortney), Hays, Kansas, Alex Kober, La Crosse, Kansas, Josie Howard (Cody), Wichita, Kansas, Tony Kober (Miranda), Wichita, Kansas, Curtis Kober, Wichita, Kansas, Rachel Hoffman (Tyrel), Dighton, Kansas, and Gabe Proffitt (Cherokee), La Crosse, Kansas; 11 great grandchildren; one brother, Raymond Kober (Kathy), Great Bend, Kansas; and two sisters, Grace Harris, Mt. Gilead, North Carolina, and Lillian Cross (Steve), St. George, Utah.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Alvin Kober, and Ervin “Tex” Kober.
Visitation will be Friday, October 14, 2022, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse, Kansas.
Funeral service will be Saturday, October 15, 2022, at 2:00 P.M. at the Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse, Kansas, with Pastor Jeff Goss officiating.
In lieu of flowers or plants, the family requests memorials to the First Christian Church, La Crosse, Kansas.
