John L. Veh, 85, departed this life on June 6, 2023, at his home in Hill City, Kansas. He was born September 25, 1937, in rural Densmore, Kansas to William and Mary (Atkinson) Veh, the youngest of three children.

He attended school in Norton, Kansas until his senior year, when the family moved to rural Logan, Kansas where he graduated in 1956.

He enlisted in the United States Army in June 1957 and was discharged May 1959. After returning to Kansas he helped his Dad with the family farm and began his career in the oilfield, retiring in 1994.

He married Sandra Sprinkle on June 3, 1987 in Hill City, Kansas.

He is survived by his wife Sandra Veh of the home, his son Jim (Rosie) Sprinkle, Lenexa, KS, his daughters, Julie (Ron) Patterson, Derby, Ks, Jami (Lonnie Lucero) Sprinkle, Pierceville, Ks, Stacy VanBlaricon and Cara Hubbard; his grandchildren Jay (Rachel) Sprinkle, Trish (Craig) Staab, Taylor Sprinkle, Brittany (Justin) Shields, Xavier (Kelsey) Sloan, Ashlei (Dustin) Dinkel, Andrea (Daniel) Reed, Ian Patterson, River (Craig) Ledet, Riley (Zoey) Wands, Stephanie (Tyler) Winn, Tate (Skylar Chapple) Wands, Jaran (Jordyn Shorter) Clark, Emmett Lucero, Averett Lucero, Alyx (Caden) Shaw, Kayci Veh, and Danyl (Tucker) Dauer; great-grandchildren Jolee, Tristan, Mason, Cameron, Kenadee, Karsyn, Holden, Rena, Brooks, Jocelyn, Auggie, Abigail, Jacob, Hannah, Nick, Katie, Libby, Radley, Sawyer, Zayne, Ryder, Raysson, RhyAnne, Tatum, Jansen, Klace, Kreed, Hendryx, Hudsyn, and Hayz; great-great-grandchildren Reagan, Kameron, and Everli. He is also survived by many special friends and family.

John was proceeded in death by his parents, his brother Myron (Darlene), sister Loretta (Jack) Bard, his son-in-law Craig VanBlaricon and grandson Jason Patterson.

In honor of John’s love for K-State football and KU basketball everyone is encouraged to wear Wildcat purple or Jayhawk blue to his service. The visitation will be Friday, June 9 at Stinemetz Funeral Home, Hill City, KS, where the family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m.. A celebration of life will be Saturday, June 10 at 3 p.m. at Stinemetz Funeral Home.
